A Bowl Full of Summer Goodness

Is there any more beautiful phrase than "ripe peaches"? At least one that doesn't involve muscular young men and their orifices? No, there is not.

Peaches are my favorite fruit in the world, so terribly tender and sweet, but I am firm in my stand against peach fuzz. The sensation of it on my teeth makes me cringe. Perhaps I am simply too delicate. So the glorious excess of a bowl of peaches, peeled and sliced and just waiting for me to tuck in is food nirvana for me.

  1. I love peaches too but really, you have that peach fuzz in your mouth????

Maybe you are thinking of boy butt fuzz on your tongue.

    That would be my guess.

  4. Nectarines = peaches without the fuzz.

My kidlet calls me Peaches. She says that's what the future grandkids will call me, bcause "Nana is too white, and Abuelita is too Mexican, so Peaches it is...." (but also, I wear perfume that smells like peaches, s othere you go.)

  6. J'adore peaches and have been enjoying the late summer perfection via the Farmer's Market here. But I eat the fuzz.

And I'm wagering you already knew that.

On the aesthetic side of your post I appreciate the perfect styling. The blue against the peach-y peach color is sublime. Color opposites, sorta. Have you been watching David Bromstad's "Color Splash"?

  8. I enjoy peach fuzz, but I prefer them before they grow any fuzz at all. The essence is just more sweet.

  9. Frog Hollow! I remember buying them at the Ferry Building farmer's market (and disgusting you by eating one that had a worm in it's core (allow me to clarify that I did NOT eat the worm) because it was so delish I didn't care). I can now get them here occasionally for the outrageous price of $4.99 a pound. And I do it.

  10. I think there is way too much smutty entendres about peach fuzz here.

Diva, I did make shortcakes, how did you know?

Thanks, sweetie, how perceptive of you.

Can you prove you didn't eat that worm? No, I didn't think so.

  11. And why on earth are you eating California peaches when you live an hour away from the fabulous ones in East Texas? Ingrate.

  12. Oh, East Texas peaches. The manna of my childhood. California peaches are good, but East Texas peaches will bring on orgasms and hallucinations.
